Survey/assessment

Are we seeing the same issue?

A company can spend considerable time addressing an issue before discovering that its people do not agree about what is holding them back.

The owner sees one thing. Management describes another. Employees doing the work may recognize something neither has considered. Each may be speaking from experience, yet referring to different circumstances.

Before deciding what to do, examine what people actually perceive. — From “Are We Seeing the Same Obstacle?” by Neil S. Kohrn

Start with an exercise you can conduct internally

Invite independent responses to one question: “From your perspective, what is obstructing progress?” Keep participation entirely voluntary, allow five business days, and use a collection method that protects anonymity. Ask for observations without names or identifying details. Compare the accounts before deciding on a solution.

An internal review may be sufficient when employees trust the process and the reviewer can consider the responses impartially. Participation, differing perceptions and unanswered questions all deserve evaluation. Silence does not establish agreement. Agreement does not establish accuracy.

When an independent assessment adds value

Friendship, loyalty, fear of retribution or doubt that anything will change can limit what people say. A reviewer closely connected to the concern may also find it difficult to separate familiar explanations from what the responses support.

CSI offers a third-party review when a company would prefer an impartial intermediary or lacks the time to evaluate the material itself. Independent involvement can support candor; it does not automatically establish trust or guarantee participation.

What CSI provides

For a modest, agreed fee, CSI reviews recurring themes, differences in perception, participation levels, limitations and matters requiring further examination, then provides a confidential written assessment. The first step evaluates what needs attention; it does not assume the cause or prescribe a continuing advisory engagement.

Choose the standard questionnaire or request a survey tailored to your circumstances for a small additional agreed charge. Scope, fee, collection method, anonymity arrangements and reporting date are agreed before work begins.

Request details

Use the form below to discuss your company’s needs. This is a confidential company inquiry, not the employee survey. Do not submit employee responses or identifying employee details here. No payment or continuing engagement is authorized by this request.
